Some of our “friends” in the legislature have introduced House Bill HB 518 which eliminates the cap on net metering (good) but reduces the value of solar generated electricity exported to the grid to around $.04/ kwh – down from today’s $.16 for residential solar (very bad). It would be great if any of you had an opportunity to attend the hearing in order to object to this solar killing bill. The hearing is scheduled for this Wednesday 1/25 at 2:00 pm in room 301 of the Legislative Office Building in Concord. I apologize for the very short notice but I just received the attached e-mail today. If you can’t attend an e-mail or phone call to your House member asking them to vote no on HB 518 would be appreciated.
Thank you so much to all of you who came to speak against HB 518, which would have destroyed net metering and thwart a long process at the PUC. And thank you to the scores of you who wrote and called in to your legislators and to the committee.
The bill sponsor announced that HB 518 would be retained, which means the committee will hold it until after the PUC proceeding on net metering concludes. It is thanks to the large opposition from all of you that helped him come to that swift conclusion!
Your work and commitment to keep NH moving FORWARD on critical clean energy policies is paying off – keep it up!
